Hudson Valley Bike Tours offers scenic bike rides in New York State for adults and families. Just an hour out of New York City exists some of the best cycling in the country! With sweeping countryside views and varied terrain our routes challenge the experienced and novice cyclist with a variety of mileage options.
Choose from one of our listed rides below, OR contact us about creating a customized ride - based on your group size, fitness level and other preferences. When choosing a ride, take into consideration the miles and the level of difficulty, as some routes have a 1000-2000 foot gain.
All tours are reserved on a first come- first serve basis, requiring a non-refundable deposit.
Wine and Cheese Ride
Distance Options: 12, 20 or 30 miles or a distance of your choice

Join us as we meander through picturesque farm settings and the famous black dirt region of Orange County known for some of the most fertile farmlands in New York State. August brings the luscious, rich odor of onions ripening in the fields. Visit a working farm specializing naturally grown produce. Sample and purchase delicious locally made cheeses, at least one local winery will be included (with a possibility of adding more).

This tour visits
a popular second generation family farm in
the magnificent black dirt region of Pine Island. Growing over 250 varieties of
produce yearly, including special ethnic varieties of produce, the farm
utilizes ecologically friendly and environmentally sound practices.
Breakfast every Saturday
and Sunday. Cooking Classes, workshops and demos can be incorporated at
an additional cost, depending on the farm’s scheduled offerings.
Many varieties are
heirlooms. Over 50 varieties of chilies and 20 varieties of garlic. Lots of herbs
available, as well as wild edibles. Need more temptation? How about Cilantro,
culantro, chives, parsley, rosemary, pepicha, papallo, thymes, lemon grass,
lemon verbena, sages, mints, basils lemon, lime, Italian, African Blue, lettuce
leaf, thai, cinnamon. Sweet tender lettuces, and mustard greens. Turnips,
carrots-purple, red and yellow; beets red, white, striped and golden;
cauliflower green, purple and white; broccoli, brussel sprouts, onions, cabbage
American and Asian; sweet, tender baby bac choi or pac choi, spinaches,
eggplants, purple and green asparagus. Winter squashes from the Americas, Japan
and France. Melons, raspberries, currants, gooseberries and blueberries- all
depending on the season. Knowledgeable staff has recipes at the ready.
Craftsman’s Village Ride and Farm Made Ice Cream

Cycle through an historic craftman's village and the surrounding countryside. This small craftsman's hamlet, boasts potters, woodworkers, painters and other artisans nestled in a valley under picturesque Mountains. Surrounded by apple orchards and horse farms, it has had a distinguished reputation as a crafts community for over 250 years. Sugar Loaf remains true to its heritage as the year round homeof over 50 independent craftspeople. Many of these artisans live and work in the original barns and buildings dating back to the 1700's. The village has anexceptional selection of handmade art, crafts and gifts including stained glass, pottery, antiques, jewelry, woodworks, candles and more. Along the way we will stop at a historic dairy farm for a tour and some of their farm made ice cream.
We will ride through the scenic countryside and end in this lovely village where we will have lunch. After completion of the ride and lunch, feel free to explore the shops.The Family Tour
Distance: 13 miles
Level of Difficulty: Rolling hills
Ride Limit: 10 people
Bring the family for a wonderful little tour, a favorite of the children in the local bike club! Kids as young as six have had fun on this route. The ride consists of pleasant country roads and farmland, similar to that of the Wine and Cheese Tour, just a tad shorter, with a midway stop at a charming local restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Tandems, Tagalongs (a.k.a. trail-a-bikes) and Trailers are welcome and rentable.

Distance Options: 8-18 miles
Level of Difficulty: Experienced mountain bikers as well as beginners are welcome.
Some technical sections can be eliminated for beginners.

Experience one of the best mountain bike trail systems in the Northeast! This is a trail ride. You will be guided through a fun single track in the enticing woods of Orange County. The trails are exciting and fast without being extremely technical. Experienced bikers will find challenges and beginners can experience the excitement mountain biking offers. Groups will be divided into experienced and non experienced riders. So whether you are a seasoned mountain biker or new to the sport this it the ride for you!
The History 101 Ride- New Paltz
Distance Options: 38 miles in the Mountains; OR 48 - 55 miles on easier terrain.
Level of Difficulty: We recommend the first option for strong riders as there are very challenging climbs.
The second option is mostly flat terrain. Both ride options are very scenic.
Ride Limit: 10 people
Option #1: 38 Miles through the Mountains
Beginning in New Paltz, New York (1 hr. from NYC) this ride is a mountainous passing through historical Huguenot Street, a National Historic Landmark. This area is known for its beautiful colonial and early national period stone homes, owned and operated as museums by the Huguenot Historical Society.
Option #2: 48 or 55 miles in Easier Terrain
A long-time favorite of local cyclists, this tour is as flat a ride as the area has to offer. We wind through the scenic valley within view of the beautiful mountains featured in the first option. This ride offers some dramatic scenery, with the historical village at the end. While in New Paltz we will stop at a popular bakery and then ride down Huguenot Street as described above. On our journey we will pass a local sky diving center. You are then invited to conclude the ride with hors d’oeuvres at the local brew pub (drinks not included).
The Coastal Ride
Distance: 30 miles
Level of Difficulty: Rolling Hills
Ride Limit: 10 people
This tour passes through historic Hudson Valley which contains breathtaking scenery, restorations, and monuments highlighting our nation's early history.
Ride along the incredible Hudson River on one of the most scenic roads to West Point Military Academy. West Point is located approximately 50 miles north of New York City in the picturesque Hudson Valley. There are 16,000 acres of land, a portion of which played an instrumental role during the Revolutionary War. General George Washington considered West Point one of the most important positions on the continent. Although we cannot enter West Point Academy,the views of the Hudson from above are picturesque. As an out-and-back ride, the turning point will be reached at West Point Military Academy where we will retrace our path back home through the sweeping panoramic views of the area’s scenic valley as there is no “safe loop” available.

Level of Difficulty: Options include flat or mountainous climbs. All levels of riders accommodated.

Clear your head with a ride up into the Catskills. This ride can be customized to your liking- hilly or flat. Ride around the Ashokan Reservoir and into the famous artist hamlet of Woodstock and return to the starting point. Or, for those up for an epic adventure, we can add to the ride above, and continue through the Catskills, past Hunter Mountain and back down to the starting point. Options for lunch are either: Joshua’s Restaurant, a longtime favorite eatery of Woodstock local’s, or Bread Alone Bakery with fabulous breads, baked goods and coffee from Catskill Mountain Roasters (Organic, Fair Trade). Time is allotted for browsing the unique shops and atmosphere of Woodstock! We will carry back what you purchase.
